Recitals, Festivals, and Competition Events

Recitals

Two formal recitals take place per year in December and May. Additional performances are typically scheduled in the fall and spring. Students are encouraged to participate. Recitals take place at TBD.
 

2016-2017 Recital Dates (location unless otherwise announced - Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr St, Arvada):

  • October 23, 2016 @3pm | Festival Music/Halloween Party
  • December 10, 2016@6:30pm | Christmas/Holiday Recital
  • February 19, 2017 @3pm | Winter Blues/Jazz Party
  • May 7, 2017 @3pm | Spring Recital (Theme TBD)

Festivals, Competitions, and Musical Outreach

Students are also invited to participate in adjudications, festivals, and competitions that occur between September and June. Please note that participation in these events are not required by the studio for student enrollment. These events* include but are not limited to:

  • Music Teachers Association Suburban Northwest (MTASN) events
  • Colorado State Music Teachers Association (CSMTA) events
  • Guild and certification programs such as ABRSM, Trinity, and RCMDP (see below)

Appassionata Piano Studio also fosters musical growth through attendance of performances in the community and local areas. For more information about concerts in your area, please contact Laura Klein.

Certification

For students interested in participation of Guild or certification programs such as
The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, The Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory of Music Achievement Program,Trinity College, or The National Music Certificate Program, certification is available to qualifying students. Testing occurs throughout the year for each exam and is offered in convenient locations in Colorado. For more information on testing, exam requirements and levels, or if certification is right for your child, please contact Laura Klein.

Performance Attire

For all performances, students should wear formal attire. No sneakers, jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or short skirts allowed. GIRLS should wear a dress, or skirt or dress slacks with blouse or dressy top. Dresses and skirts should be at least knee length when seated. Pants must be full length - no capris. Leggins are permitted under dressy tops. Dress shoes with heels attached or dress sandals with backs are allowed. No flip-flops, casual sandals, or platform shoes. BOYS should wear a suit or dress slacks with dress shirt, sweather or sports coat. Ties are optional. Socks should match the color or slacks or shoes worn (i.e., no white socks with black shoes).
